Unstoppable has a simple set-up and plot. It is about a runaway train and the efforts made by veteran engineer Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) and rookie conductor Will Colson (Chris Pine) to stop it. But the movie is not just about the train. Both Frank and Will have their share of family problems that they also need to resolve.

At the start of Unstoppable, you can already feel the tension between the two characters. Will is seen as the replacement for old workers, such as Frank. The latter was forced to retire by the company. But they have to work together to stop the train.

Connie Hooper (Rosario Dawson) is the yardmaster responsible of the runaway train. She knows that she had to stop the train before it reaches a populated area but her team and the company can’t agree on how to stop it.

Frank (Denzel Washington): Hey, don’t get sentimental on me. Makes me think I’m gonna die.

While the train takes up most of the screen time in Unstoppable, Denzel Washington did the most with his role. Together with Pine, they had the right mixture of intensity and comic relief. They gave the movie a realistic element to an unbelievable situation.

Unstoppable is a non-stop rollercoaster ride from start until the end. It goes in an incredible pace that would leave the audience breathless. Actually it’s like Speed but with a train instead of a bus. And it managed to include the story of two ordinary men who did extraordinary things to prevent a disaster from happening. Watch this movie if you need an adrenaline fix.

Seven Pounds is a great movie. At the beginning you don’t know what Will Smith is up to. It kept me guessing but everything he did had a reason, even the pet jellyfish that he got in his motel room. This movie made me sit through all the drama. It was full of mystery that I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen the movie yet. Yup, it’s that kind of movie that’s best left unspoiled.

Will Smith and Rosario Dawson make you feel that they really love each other. Woody Harrelson as a blind vegan did a remarkable job in this one as well. The music and the cinematography are simply beautiful.

I’m a huge Will Smith fan and watched all his movies but Seven Pounds is his first movie that really moved me. Smith has stated that the title referred to Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and it did felt like a modern Shakespeare tragedy.

Ben Thomas (Will Smith): The first time I ever saw a box jellyfish, I was twelve. Our father took us to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I never forgot what he said… That it was the most deadly creature on earth. To me it was just the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.

Like what I’ve said above, Seven Pounds is the most beautiful movie Will Smith has ever made. In the end, all loose ends are tied up together. The ending is something I’m really tempted to write here but I won’t. That’s how much I respect this movie. If I could recommend only one movie, Seven Pounds will be it.

Unoriginal. Yes, we’ve already seen the story before. It is part iRobot and part Enemy of the State but that doesn’t mean that you must not watch Eagle Eye. For 118 minutes the movie suspends reality for a while and lets you live the lives of two strangers (Shia LeBeouf and Michelle Monaghan) who have been selected by a computer for a mission that can change the history of the strongest country in the world.

Steven Spielberg and D.J. Caruso, the team behind last year’s Disturbia, give us an entertaining thriller that will not bore you even for a second. Although the action is non-stop, there’s a sense of a story embedded in it. Eagle Eye goes from one chase scene to another yet we see a semblance of character development unlike some action films I’ve seen recently.

I’m not a fan of LeBeouf but I have to give him credit for his performance in this one. Actually everyone in the film should be commended and that includes Billy Bob Thornton and Rosario Dawson.

Agent Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton): If you’re staring at me, it better be because I’m the suspect. If not, get back to work or I swear you’re all demoted to something that involves touching shit with your hands!

The plot was a suspect but at least they redeemed it with good performances and great direction. The stars and crew would not be touching any shit any time soon.

*Spoiler*
Turns out A.R.I.A. runs the show and is out to assassinate the entire cabinet because of one mistake they committed. Jerry’s twin Ethan found out about this and that’s the reason why he was killed. Jerry stopped the attempt and all ends well.
