The title says it all. Sex Pot is about sex and pot. That means adolescent males will enjoy it. It’s a movie where one will download and will share with their friends behind their parents’ back. To be honest, I used to enjoy movies like Sex Pot but I have outgrown them. Not even the dozen hot topless girls can lure me back into the dark side.

The Wayans brothers are back with another spoof film. Dance Flick is a parody of dance movies such as Save the Last Dance, Step Up, You Got Served, Honey, and High School Musical, and a lot more. I must confess that these movies are my guilty pleasures and I had high hopes for this offering from the kings of spoofs.

Megan (Shoshanna Bush) dreams of becoming a dancer but at her audition dance for Julliard, her mother died, along with her chances of getting in the prestigious performing arts school. She then moved in with her father in a condemned building and enrolled in Musical High School. There she met new friends – Tracy (Chelsea Makela), Charity (Essence Atkins), and Thomas (Damon Wayans Jr.).

I don’t know how Observe and Report is labeled as a comedy, just like I don’t know why people are calling Seth Rogen a comedy genius.  I adore Anna Faris and her humor but her presence can’t lighten up this disastrous excuse of a movie.

observe-and-report

Seth Rogen plays Ronnie, a mall guard, who is trying to catch a flasher in the mall premises.  It is compounded with a burglary in one of the mall stores and he’s pressured to find out who did it.  With all these things happening at work, he pursues his dream of becoming a true cop.

Hooking Up is an unfunny attempt at a teen sex comedy.  I don’t know how the producers got Corey Feldman to star in it.  Yes, he’s the same guy who starred in classic 80’s movies such as Lost Boys, Goonies, and Gremlins.  Here he plays Ryan, a college dude who mistreats his girlfriend Caroline played by Alison Whitney.

hooking-up

It tried to be funny but failed miserably.  The opening scene is the barometer whether you can withstand Hooking Up or not.  If you can survive the first five minutes of the movie and find it to be funny, then watch the whole thing.  But if you’re tortured by it, you’re in for more of the same throughout the movie and I suggest that you stop watching.

I watched Labor Pains one night when I was bored and got nothing else better to do.  Needless to say, it is one of those movies that don’t deserve a second helping. Lindsay Lohan plays Thea Clayhill, a young secretary who pretended to be pregnant so that she can’t be fired.  Not only that, she was getting special treatment everywhere she goes.

labor-pains

If you’re looking for laughs, don’t look for it in Labor Pains.  The story was lame and the acting was slightly off par . The movie doesn’t engross the audience into the story and the characters were underdeveloped.  We were made to believe that Thea is working her ass off to support her sister but we don’t see them struggling.

What was I thinking?  Why did I watch this Ai-Ai de las Alas/Sharon Cuneta movie? BFF: Best Friends Forever is the latest Filipino movie that I’ve watched and to be honest, I’m too proud of it.  As a comedy, it relied much on slapstick. The jokes were not funny at all.

bff

The two main actresses of BFF are superstars in their own right in my country and their team-up has been hyped by the local media.  The producers have a surefire moneymaker in their hands that they didn’t care about making a decent movie.

18 Year Old Virgin was done in bad taste.  I couldn’t find any redeeming factors from it.  The plot was horrible and the script was so bad I was tempted to mute it.  In the end, I can’t bear watching it anymore and turned the player off with more than twenty minutes left in the movie.

18-year-old-virgin

Olivia Alaina May is the 18 year old virgin who wants to give it up during her high school graduation night but the one she loves doesn’t want one.  So she’s on a quest to lose it before the night ends.  If you think it’s crappy, well it is.
