Dolphin Tale is based on Winter, a dolphin whose tail was lost after getting entangled in a crab trap. It focused on the friendship between Winter the dolphin and Sawyer (Nathan Gamble), who believes that the dolphin can still swim normally with the help of a prosthetic tail.

It featured an all-star cast led by Morgan Freeman as Dr. Cameron McCarthy, the prosthetic maker; Ashley Judd as Sawyer’s mother; Harry Connick Jr. as Dr. Clay, the head of the Marine Hospital; and Kris Kristofferson as Clay’s dad. I’m an Ashley Judd fanboy but I’m sorry to say that she and the rest of the humans were outperformed by Rufus the mischievous Pelican. He provided the comic relief to the movie and stole the limelight whenever he’s part of the scene.

But the true star of the show is Winter. She is an inspiration for everyone. She showed that anyone can overcome obstacles that come one’s way. Dolphin Tale also teaches us that we should not judge anyone because of their looks. And lastly, it tells us that family is forever.

Hazel Haskett (Cozi Zuehlsdorff): What does your dad do?
Sawyer Nelson (Nathan Gamble): I don’t know. He left like 5 years ago. We don’t know where he is. He never calls, never writes.
Hazel: Oh.
Sawyer: So what does your mom do?
Hazel: She died when I was 7. Never calls, never writes.

Awesome inspirational movie that’s full of emotions. If you were not touched by Winter then you don’t have a heart. It is better than Flipper and Free Willy combined. This is a must-see for the whole family. Be sure to have a tissue box beside you while watching the movie.

With Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas onboard, you might think that Thick as Thieves might be a blockbuster. I’m surprised that its US release date is much later than most parts of the world. I was a little bit disappointed with this one that I have to wait for two days after watching it to write this one.

They played two thieves that have the perfect plan for a heist. Just like any heist movies, things can go wrong.

In the case of Thick as Thieves, there were things that are visually wrong. There were scenes taken in New York and in a blink of the eye they’re in Europe. Its editing made my mind twitch. The lighting made it look like a low budget movie.

The chemistry between Morgan and Banderas is good but the relationship between Banderas and Radha Mitchell was as far from believable as possible. Plus, the story felt like it was written by someone who has watched a lot of thrillers. Yup, there were a lot of twists in the plot but was I surprised? No.

The ending hinted of a sequel. For God’s sake please no more of this. I can endure only one Thick as Thieves.

*Spoiler*
Gabriel is an undercover cop. Before the heist, Alex was taken by the mob leader. So during the heist, Gabriel double-crossed Ripley and brought the egg to save Alex. Ripley was taken by the cops only to be walk out of jail because the charges were dropped. Then while looking at mob photos, Gabriel learned that who he thought was the mob boss turned out to be Alex’s own dad, Ripley’s supposedly dead partner.

Forget about the real world for a while when you watch this movie. We all know that it is impossible for bullets to curve. Even Beckham can’t bend it that way. Wanted lets us forget about physics for a while and brings you to a world where assassins answer to a higher being.

This adaptation of Mike Millar’s graphic novel is full of action sequences that could have been part of the Matrix trilogy. James McAvoy plays Wesley Gibson, the son of an Assassin. He is asked to take over his father’s job. Wesley’s Trinity is the hot and deadly Fox, played by Angelina Jolie. Then we have Morgan Freeman in the Morpheus-like role of Sloan.

Not that I want to take anything away from Wanted. The story is original. Kudos goes to the writers and the director. The effects were believable, from the fight scenes, to the bending of the bullets and even the exploding rats.

Sloan (Morgan Freeman): It a choice, Wesley, that each of us must face: to remain ordinary, pathetic, beat-down, coasting through a miserable existence, like sheep herded by fate – or you can take control of your own destiny and join us, releasing the caged wolf you have inside. Our purpose is to maintain stability in an unstable world – kill one, save a thousand. Within the fabric of this world, every life hangs by a thread. We are that thread – a fraternity of assassins with the weapons of fate. This is the decision that lies before you now: the sheep, or the wolf. The choice is yours.

Yup the decision is yours, whether you like this movie or not.

*Spoiler*
Turn out the rogue assassin that Wesley is chasing after is his real father and Sloan has lied to him. Turns out that Sloan’s name came out of the loom and Wesley’s father knew about it. Fox killed everyone with a single bullet. In the last scene, Wesley kills Sloan with a sniper rifle, much like how his father killed the first member of the Fraternity in the beginning of the movie.
