Blind is a Korean thriller with Kim Ha Neul as Min Soo Ah, a former police trainee who lost her eye-sight during a highway accident that also killed her brother. She has to engage in a battle of wits with a serial killer.

Three years after the accident that rendered Soo Ah blind, she is kidnapped by a psycho serial killer Myung Jin (Yang Young Jo), who drives a car to lure young women and torture them to death. She barely escapes from him when he accidentally hits a pedestrian. She goes to the police but they treat the blind witness lightly.

Her case is assigned to Detective Jo (Jo Hee Bong), who takes it half-heartedly. Then he realizes that So Ah’s case could be connected to the series of missing women in the area, he tries his best to look for the murderer. This is another Korean movie that I’ve recently saw that depicts their police force as ineffective.

To complicate the investigation, a young biker Gi Sub (Yoo Seung Ho) tells the police that he witnessed the accident. He says that he saw a foreign car fleeing the scene. But this contradicts with Soo Ah’s testimony because she’s certain that her kidnapper is a taxi driver and dismisses the young guy as someone who is only after the reward money.

What they don’t know is that Myung Jin the serial killer has caught up with them and has started hunting down the two witnesses of his crime.

Kim Ha Neul is the perfect choice for the role. It is very different from her role in You’re My Pet, which is also released in 2011. You would really think that she’s blind in real life. Plus, she exudes the persona of a proud person just right that would still make her likeable even though she’s thick headed sometimes.

Soo Ah’s guide dog Seul Ki (Dali) almost steals the show from the human stars of Blind. She’s the same dog in the Heart Is… movies. She’s the source of comedic relief in Blind but also the one who will probably make you cry.

Blind starts as a good, suspenseful thriller but all hell breaks loose in the last part of the movie, when common sense makes room for brutal action, which is the norm for most Korean movies of the genre. You will either love or hate the movie for it. The psycho killer, Soo Ah, and Gi Sub find themselves in an empty orphanage where they play a deadly game of hide and seek in the dark.

Blind is a typical Korean thriller. It has misogyny, inutile police officers, and a pure evil psycho killer. It has the right amount of suspense to keep the audience at the edge of their seats but the climax could have been done differently. But despite its flaws, Blind is an entertaining movie.

Judging from the trailer and the movie poster, one can easily dismiss My Girlfriend is an Agent to be a copy of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. After watching it, I had to say that I enjoyed the former more than the latter. The action scenes might be a little weak but you’ll be laughing a lot watching this movie. This I guarantee.

My Girlfriend is an Agent is hilarious movie that stars Kim Ha Neul as an undercover agent. This is the first time I saw her work and I must say I’m impressed. She beautifully handled her role, whether it’s an action scene or a light one. Joining her in the movie is Kang Ji Hwan, who I last saw in The Rough Cut. I enjoyed his clumsy rookie agent character. There’s this scene that involved lots of guns that had me literally ROFLing.

Like in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, both characters don’t know that the other one’s a spy. But the similarity stops there. Three years ago, Jae-joon (Kang Ji Hwan) broke up with Soo-ji (Kim Ha Neul) because he was left waiting in the airport while Soo Ji was chasing bad guys and couldn’t answer her phone.

Fast forward to the present and they met while both of them are working on the same case but they didn’t know that they’re on the same side. Maybe it’s regulation for Korean intelligence agencies not to cooperate with each other. They’re both after the Russians who are about to get their hands on a biological weapon.

Jae Joon thought that Soo Ji was working for the Russians and vice versa. When he found her with the Russians, he put a gun in her head and asked the lady Russian mastermind to surrender. But instead the Russian shot at them and Jae Joon shielded Soo Ji and got shot at the back. Good thing he was wearing his bulletproof baby tee.

My Girlfriend is an Agent is a funny Korean comedy that you should not miss. It should be regulation for everyone to watch this movie more than once. You wouldn’t regret it. It’s a romantic comedy like no other. And yeah, I do wish my girlfriend is an agent like Soo Ji.
