Curious is the right adjective for this movie. I was curious how a Benjamin Button’s life would be when he was born old. Instead of getting older, he does the reverse and grows younger each year. With a plot like this you, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is definitely something you’ve never seen before.

The story is told by Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) himself although there are some parts in which Daisy (Cate Blanchett) adds to the story. The movie took place from the time World War I end up to Hurricane Katrina’s arrival. Much like Forrest Gump, Button’s life is interesting but unlike Gump, he didn’t meet any presidents.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is enjoyable but the story has its flaws. It’s a love story that portrays age as just a being number yet Button left Daisy and his family because he felt he’s inadequate as a father. This is not the only hole in the plot.

Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt): Along the way you bump into people who make a dent on your life. Some people get struck by lightning. Some are born to sit by a river. Some have an ear for music. Some are artists. Some swim the English Channel. Some know buttons. Some know Shakespeare. Some are mothers. And some people can dance.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button might not be perfect but it’s not that bad. Even though the running time is more than 2 hours, it would just breeze by you. But this fact is true. You’ll never meet another Benjamin Button in our lifetime.

*Spoiler*
Benjamin Button got younger through the years. He dies as a baby with dementia.

Henry Jones Junior is back. After 19 years of waiting, Harrison Ford is back as Indy in the fourth installation of the franchise entitled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Indy’s goal for this installation is to look for the Lost City of Gold. And this time around he has a sidekick that’s out to get the role from him.

Junior and The Third

Harrison Ford shows why the Indiana Jones franchise is loved by many. At his age, he can still compete with the younger action stars. It is still the classic Indy that’s packed with action and humor.

Shia LeBeouf plays Mutt Williams or Henry Jones III, the son that Indy didn’t know of. Although I think Ford is still good for one more Indy movie, LeBeouf would be a worthy replacement. He’d be perfect for the next CGI-filled sequel if Spielberg and Lucas are up for it.

Cate Blanchett is perfect as the evil Dr. Irina Spalko. Even if she’s the villain, there was a part of me that rooted for her. The sword fight between Dr. Spalko and Mutt was riveting.

I know there are a lot of haters out there. Some say that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull should have not been made. They say it contains lots of unbelievable things that defy science and logic but isn’t it what the movie is for? It is not a documentary. It’s our escapism trip that suspends reasoning and brings us fun-filled action sequences that lasts for 2 hours. Indy Jones movies should not be taken seriously. If you do then you’re missing the point.

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford): “That can’t be good. That can’t be good at all.”

But to me, it was good. What are your thoughts about the film?

*Spoiler*
Mac, as it turns out, is not a double agent. As usual, Indy finds what he was looking for.
