Densha Otoko or Train Man the TV series is based on the international bestselling book of the same title. If you want to know more about it, then you can check my Train Man book review. The Japanese TV series almost stayed true to the book with some modifications to the story.

All throughout the book, Train Man is just Train Man and Hermes is just Hermes. But in the TV drama series, Train Man is Yamada Tsuyoshi (Ito Atsushi) and Hermes is Aoyama Saori (Ito Misaki), who I think was perfect for the role. You’ll definitely fall for her at first sight.

Judging from its synopsis, I thought You’re Beautiful was going to be predictable. Go Mi-nyu (Park Sin-hye) has to pretend to be her twin brother Mi-nam and be part of the boy group A.N.JELL., which includes Hwang Tae-kyeong (Jang Geun-seok), Jeremy (Lee Hong-ki), and Kang Sin-woo (Jeong Yong-hwa).

The predictable became unpredictable in Episode 2 of You’re Beautiful when Tae-kyeong and Sin-woo found out that Mi-nam/Mi-nyu is a girl. That’s when the love triangle and later square comes in. It’s the sort of drama that girls would watch to gush over the male leads. I recently saw The Case of Itaewon Homicide and I can conclude that Jang Geun-seok can really act.

A friend told me to watch Heading to the Ground (you know who you are). She said that DBSK’s Yunho plays a soccer player in this Korean drama. Soccer convinced me to watch it. Plus it features Go Ara as Yunho’s leading lady.

Yunho is Bong-gun, a soccer player with the potential to represent Korea in the World Cup. But because of a past crime, his future as a player was bleak. Things changed when he met Kang Hae-bin (Go Ara), a rookie sports agent who was willing to gamble on him.

Even before the latest Yoon Eun-hye series first aired, its title was changed twice. Originally known as Lady Castle, it became Take Care of the Young Lady. Maybe they thought that the name is too long, the series became My Fair Lady. But don’t confuse it with the Hepburn classic. The story is nothing like that. Aside from Eun-hye, the other cast members are Yoon Sang-hyun, Jeong Il-woo, and Moon Chae-won.

Yoon Eun-hye is Kang Hye-na, the lady of the story. Her parents died when she was young and is now living with her grandfather. Life is easy for her and she gets what she wants. She’s self-centered and doesn’t care about others feelings.

Buzzer Beat is a Japanese basketball drama that revolves around Kamiya Naoki (Yamashita Tomohisa) and Shirakawa Riko (Kitagawa Keiko). Naoki is a professional basketball player for the JC Arcs while Riko is a violinist. They met in a time when both of them are struggling with their careers. Like destiny wants them to be together, Naoki just broke up with his cheerleader girlfriend, Nanami Natsuki (Aibu Saki).

The chemistry between Yamapi and Keiko was good that it felt like they were really in love with each other. The last time I saw Keiko was in Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift where she played one of Bow Wow’s friends. Aibu’s character in Buzzer Beat is the total opposite of her role in Zettai Kareshi, where she played a naïve girl.

Dream is Korean sports drama series about Nam Je-il (Joo Jin-mo), a successful sports agent. He reminded me of Tom Cruise in Jerry McGuire but he has the charisma of Sly Stallone. During the course of the series, he got into his boss’ bad side and got fired. His reputation is in ruins because of a malicious rumor spread by his former boss.

Things picked up for Agent Nam when he met the ex-convict Lee Jang-suk (Kim Bum). Agent Nam finds inner peace as he tries his best to turn him into a champion MMA fighter. Every fighter needs a trainer and here’s where Park So-yeon (Son Dam-bi) comes into the picture.

Aside from becoming a doctor or an engineer, becoming an astronaut is what kids want to be when they grow up. Twin Spica or Futatsu no Spica is about five teenagers who are pursuing their dream to become Japan’s first astronaut in space.

The five astronauts in training might have the same goal but their personalities are pretty much different from one another. Asumi (Nanami Sakuraba) really wants to be an astronaut but she’s being held down because of her dad’s involvement with the explosion of the first Japanese rocket. Running is her advantage over the other candidates. I don’t know how that helps in becoming an astronaut.
