Rock Rock Rock is a drama/documentary about the South Korean rock band Boohwal , specifically its lead guitarist/main songwriter Kim Tae Won.

Rock Rock Rock is a drama/documentary about the South Korean rock band Boohwal , specifically its lead guitarist/main songwriter Kim Tae Won. In this drama he is played by former TRAX member No Min Woo.

Rock Rock Rock began with a young Kim Tae Won. You would literally see his progression from the time he taught himself how to play the guitar up to the present where he is now regarded as one of the best Korean guitarists around.

During high school he was known as Tae Won of Gangbuk. It not only showcased how great Tae Won is but also the actor that played him. No Min Woo was the drummer in TRAX but he showed us that he is also skillful with the guitar. He played riffs from classic rock songs with ease. Rock Rock Rock featured song from the Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and a lot more.

I stated in the My Girlfriend is a Gumiho review that No Min-woo deserves to be the lead of a drama and now we see him as the main star in this KBS drama special. In Rock Rock Rock, Min-woo showed more range in his acting. When he sang Memories III, you can actually feel the sadness of the song.

I have two eye candies in Rock Rock Rock. First one is Jang Kyeong Ah who played Soo Yeon, Kim Tae Won’s first love. Their tragic love story is the basis of Tae Won’s first song (The Story of You and the Rain).

Then there’s Hong Ah Reum, who played Hyeun Joo, Tae Won’s wife. She came into his life when he needed someone the most. At first it was an one sided love but Tae Won learned to love her. I first saw Ah-reum in Dream where she played one of Kim Bum’s groupies. Ah Reum’s acting improved and I enjoyed her performance in Rock Rock Rock.

I didn’t know anything about Boohwal, Kim Tae Won, or the Korean rock scene. The special drama Rock Rock Rock did a good job of introducing them to me. Kim Tae Won is a talented musician and everyone with a band can empathize with his story.

The Rocker is a feel good comedy about a loser named Fish (Rainn Wilson). He used to be the drummer of the band Vesuvius with Lex (Will Arnett), Kerr (Fred Armisen), and Trash (Bradley Cooper). They were on the verge of becoming famous when Fish is kicked out of the band.

20 years after, Vesuvius is already a big time rock band and Fish is still a loser who just got fired from his job and homeless. He now lives with his sister and her family. His nephew Matt (Josh Gad) has a band called Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD for short. Other members of ADD are Amelia (Emma Stone) and Stan (Jeff Garlin). They needed a drummer for a gig and asked Fish to be their replacement drummer.

Fish showed ADD how to rock it out like real rock stars and in the process he was given a second chance to live his dream as The Rocker. Their road to stardom began with a video featuring Fish drumming naked. Along came a record deal and tours. Accompanying them on tours is Curtis’ mom Kim played by the lovely Christina Applegate (who is one of my crushes ever since I saw her in Married with Children).

ADD’s biggest gig is to be Vesuvius’ front act during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ADD rocked the stage. When it was time for Vesuvius’ turn, they lip synced, which angered the crowd. Being booed off the stage is the worst thing to happen to a band. Then the crowd chanted for ADD and they did an encore.

Fish (Rainn Wilson): Loads of elevators play Celine Dion – that don’t make it right.

The Rocker featured glam music, which is the genre I was listening to during my high school days. This movie was mentioned by one of my friends during a recent get together and all of us present agreed that this is a good movie. It’s like a Jack Black movie without Jack Black. Overall, The Rocker rocks!

The Boat that Rocked or Pirate Radio as it was renamed into in the United States is a whimsical, musical movie about an illegal radio station on board a ship in the North Sea during the 1960s.

The Boat that Rocked or Pirate Radio as it was renamed into in the United States is a whimsical, musical movie about an illegal radio station on board a ship in the North Sea during the 1960s. This is the period when the British government banned rock and roll music and the only way to listen to it is through pirate radios.

The first thing you’ll notice about The Boat that Rocked is its superb soundtrack. It featured music from The Kinks, Smokey Robinson, The Who, The Hollies, Skeeter Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, The Supremes, Cat Stevens, just to name a few. I might not be born in the 60s but I enjoy music from that era. The right songs were used to enhance the different scenes of the movie.

It featured a motley crew of characters including Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Count, Rhys Ifans as Gavin, Nick Frost as Doctor Dave, Tom Sturridge as Young Carl and Bill Nighy as Quentin the boss man of the ship. The acting was weak but you wouldn’t watch The Boat that Rocked for it; neither for its story nor historical accuracy. It’s all about the music and nothing else.

The Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman): To all our listeners, this is what I have to say – God bless you all. And as for you bastards in charge, don’t dream it’s over. Years will come, years will go, and politicians will do fuck all to make the world a better place. But all over the world, young men and young women will always dream dreams and put those dreams into song. Nothing important dies tonight, just a few ugly guys on a crappy ship. The only sadness tonight is that, in future years, there’ll be so many fantastic songs that it will not be our privilege to play. But, believe you me, they will still be written, they will still be sung and they will be the wonder of the world.

I never knew about pirate radios and this gave me an idea of how they operated. The Boat that Rocked might not be accurate but it did manage to show a glimpse of what it’s like to be in that era. We’re lucky that radios today can play whatever they want to play. Well radios nowadays are insignificant because of the advent of the internet and the iPod.

I recommend watching The Boat that Rocked with the volume level on maximum. That’s the only way you can really enjoy it. Just treat it as a long music video set in the 1960s. Fans of 60s rock and roll will definitely enjoy this one.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of goviral. All opinions are 100% mine.

N-Dubz is a hip-hop trio based in London. I was introduced to their music through a Radio 1 compilation album where their song, Papa Can You Hear Me, was featured. They come a long way since growing up in Camden Town. It is back in the streets of their hometown where they honed their skills to be where they are today.

N-Dubz has their unique style when it comes to their music and this is also reflected with the way they look. Dappy has always been known for his unusual dress sense, especially his eye-catching headgears. Fazer loves making his own music since he was a kid and now he produces music for the group. To complete the group, they recruited Dappy’s cousin Tulisa to provide a female voice to their songs.

It’s not a surprise to find out that Adidas is now a proud sponsor of N-Dubz. The company has always supported hip-hop acts such as Run DMC and Snoop Dogg just to name a few. Adidas Originals showcases the artists and their unique personalities.

Recently, Adidas Originals brought in N-Dubz to an event that featured other musicians, athletes, skaters, entertainers, and artists. The video below is proof of how fun it is to party with N-Dubz and Adidas Original.

Last October 6, Pearl Jam’s concert at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles became the site of a special show for those who miss 90s music like me. During the second to the last song of the night, Pearl Jam brought to the stage Chris Cornell for a surprise Temple of the Dogs reunion.

It is the first time since 2003 since Cornell, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder have been on one stage. They performed the Temple of the Dog song Hunger Strike.

That’s not all Pearl Jam has under their sleeves for 90s music fans. For their last song of the night, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell came on stage to do the solo for Alive.

These performances made me miss the 90s more.

Finally the music video of Higante has premiered in local TV. This is a collaboration of two Philippine music scene giants, namely Ely Buendia and the late Francis M. It comes from the upcoming album In Love and War (ILAW), which will be released on October 5.

Silversun Pickups performed a MTV Unplugged set last month but it is only tonight that I’ve stumbled upon it after randomly browsing through the MTV web site. In case you are not familiar with them, Silversun Pickups is an indie band from L.A. that consists of Brian Aubert (guitar/vocals), Nikki Monninger (bass/vocals), Christopher Guanlao (drums) and Joe Lester (keyboards). They have already released an EP (Pikul, 2005) and two full albums (Carnavas, 2006 and Swoon, 2009).

If I’m asked to choose just one song from Silversun Pickups then that would be Lazy Eye. That song got me hooked on the band. Well here’s Silversun Pickups performing Lazy Eye for MTV Unplugged.

I watched Marie’ Digby’s concert at the NBC Tent and enjoyed it. I thought I would not make it in time because of the traffic caused by the heavy rains but I was surprised that it only took us 30 minutes to get to Fort Bonifacio from Mall of Asia.

I forgot to write down the set list because I was mesmerized by Marie’s beauty and talent. Anyway here’s a fancam while she’s singing Say It Again. I couldn’t focus on her because people were standing up! But it’s all good

Limp Bizkit played to a massive audience during the Rock AM Ring 2009 in Germany last Sunday. The Red Cap is back with the rest of the original crew, including prodigal guitarist Wes Borland. This must be the year of comebacks.

Borland has this to say about Durst:

“We said that we’re sorry about things in the past but didn’t really get into specifics… I’ve eaten my words a lot when it comes to our relationship. I ended up realizing that I’ve been an ass in a lot of ways and I sort of put all the blame on (Fred) in the past.”

While here’s Limp Bizkit opening their performance with My Generation. This gave me goosebumps. I wish I was part of the crowd.
