Despicable Me is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. The cinema was filled with laughter coming from the adults and kids alike. It is rare to find a movie that everyone can enjoy from start to finish. Even though the main character is an anti-hero, this is a family-friendly movie.
Despicable Me is about Gru (Steve Carell) and his quest to steal the moon. Although it is an absurd plot, you’ll find yourself rooting for him and his cute minions. Speaking of the minions, they provided lots of funny stuff to keep the audience interested with the movie.
Then there are the three orphans, Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Elsie Fisher). Not wanting to spoil you, let’s just say that Gru needed the help of the three to get something from Vector (Jason Segel), another super villain. The orphans each have her own charm but Agnes is definitely the star of Despicable Me. She’s so fluffy! I want to have a kid like Agnes. I won’t have any regrets having a daughter like her.
Gru (Steve Carell): One big unicorn, strong and free, thought he was happy as he could be. Then three little kittens came around and turned his whole life upside down. They made him laugh, they made him cry. He never should have said goodbye. And now he knows he can never part from those three little kittens that changed his heart.
Despicable Me is an intelligent animated movie. The jokes are fresh and didn’t have resort to pop culture references to be relevant. There’s dark comedy from Gru, fluffy comedy from the three girls, and slapstick from the minions. As you can see, there’s something for everyone.
It is recommended to watch Despicable Me in 3D. The roller coaster ride was fun! The action sequences are definitely enhanced by the 3D effects. You must remain when the end credits start rolling because it is one of the funniest 3D scenes I’ve seen so far. You’ll have the urge to reach out and touch the minions. I did.
Despicable Me is a very entertaining movie that parents and their kids will enjoy. Spending more to watch the 3D version is definitely worth it.
