Judging from its synopsis, I thought You’re Beautiful was going to be predictable. Go Mi Nyu (Park Shin Hye) has to pretend to be her twin brother Mi Nam and be part of the boy group A.N.JELL., which includes Hwang Tae Kyeong (Jang Geun Suk), Jeremy (Lee Hong-ki), and Kang Sin Woo (Jeong Yong Hwa).
The predictable became unpredictable in Episode 2 of You’re Beautiful when Tae Kyeong and Sin-woo found out that Mi Nam/Mi Nyu is a girl. That’s when the love triangle and later square comes in. It’s the sort of drama that girls would watch to gush over the male leads. I recently saw The Case of Itaewon Homicide and I can conclude that Jang Geun Suk can really act.
But what got me hooked to You’re Beautiful is UEE. As Yoo He Yi, she’s the numero uno bitch. She’s the only female eye candy in this one but she can make my day by just standing there, doing nothing. A lot of fangirls are angry with her but that’s her role and did a good job at it.
People are comparing You’re Beautiful and Boys Over Flowers. There are some similarities but I don’t think that they were intentional. Boys Over Flowers fever has not died yet that’s why comparisons are being made. Plus I do think that Tae Kyeong and Sin Woo are better than Jun Pyo and Ji Hoo.
You’re Beautiful writers know how to entertain. There were episodes in which they parodied Old Boy, Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry and even had A.N.JELL doing SNSD’s Tell Me Your Wish. If you’re a K-pop fan, you should watch this drama series but I doubt that you haven’t seen it yet.
And I just want to say, You’re Beautiful UEE!
