No Limit for Heading to the Ground

A friend told me to watch Heading to the Ground (you know who you are).  She said that DBSK’s Yunho plays a soccer player in this Korean drama.  Soccer convinced me to watch it.  Plus it features Go Ara as Yunho’s leading lady.

Yunho is Bong-gun, a soccer player with the potential to represent Korea in the World Cup.  But because of a past crime, his future as a player was bleak.  Things changed when he met Kang Hae-bin (Go Ara), a rookie sports agent who was willing to gamble on him.

Bong-gun and Hae-bin seemed to be made for each other but there are some people bound to be hurt along the way.  One of them is Bong-gun’s childhood friend Yeon-yi (Lee Yoon-ji).  She secretly loves Bong-gun and didn’t see that Dong-ho (Kim Jae-seung), Bong-gun’s teammate, was in love with her.

But the main antagonist of Heading to the Ground is lawyer Jang Seung-woo (Lee Sang-yoon).  The writers did a good job with this character.  You would really hate the guy all throughout the series.  He made Bong-gun’s life miserable.

Another interesting character from Heading to the Ground is Byul, played by Bang Joon-seo, who is Bong-gun’s younger sister.  She’s only six year old but she acts older than her age.  The Cassies, I mean Bong-gun’s fans were funny kids as well.

After going through all sixteen episodes of Heading to the Ground, I could say that it is a fun drama to watch.  In the end everyone’s happy except for the evil lawyer . After Hae-bin finds out that he was the one who committed the hit-and-run and blamed it on Bong-gun, she got angry.  The chairman finds out about it and don’t want to see his face again.  In the end, Yeon-yi gets Dong-ho and Bong-gun gets Hae-bin.  Even the coach and the manager became a couple.

I wish that Heading to the Ground had more soccer scenes although the sports scenes were well-made and looked real.  Overall, it was an interesting and enjoyable drama series.  I’m wondering why it got low ratings in Korea.
