New in Town might not please everyone except for Renee Zellweger fans. This romantic comedy is full of clichés and the story is predictable. There’s nothing new to be seen from this movie yet there are parts which made me laugh. If you got some time to kill, then this will entertain you.

Renee Zellweger is Lucy Hill, a big city executive who was assigned to facilitate a downsizing of a factory in a small town. She has to adjust from living the high life in Miami to the bitter cold small town lifestyle of her new assignment. Being new in town, the locals gave her a week before she leaves. As part of her job she meets Ted Mitchell (Harry Connick Jr.), who is the union representative.
Lucy at first had a hard time at work. The workers gave her the cold treatment but once she got to know the locals better, she began to understand where they come from and soon enough she was accepted by them. The company at first wanted to fire half of the workers because of their automation of the plant but Lucy managed to turn it all around when she introduced a new product line from the plant. In the end she bought the company for the people of the town with the plan of selling it to them.
It’s the same old girl meets boy and they don’t like each other. But after a series of events, they got to know each other better and fell in love. It’s just a bonus that they saved the company while developing their feelings for one another.
Everyone in New in Town seemed genuine and sincere. You’ll feel the warmth of the characters even during the cold winter of Minnesota. It shows how a community helps one another. This positivity is something not seen in movies these days.
