Even before the latest Yoon Eun Hye series first aired, its title was changed twice. Originally known as Lady Castle, it became Take Care of the Young Lady. Maybe they thought that the name is too long, the series became My Fair Lady. But don’t confuse it with the Hepburn classic. The story is nothing like that. Aside from Eun Hye, the other cast members are Yoon Sang Hyun, Jeong Il Woo, and Moon Chae Won.
Yoon Eun-hye is Kang Hye Na, the lady of the story. Her parents died when she was young and is now living with her grandfather. Life is easy for her and she gets what she wants. She’s self-centered and doesn’t care about others feelings.
Yoon Sang-hyun is Seo Dong Chan, a former gigolo with a huge debt. One day Hye-na came into his life, one thing led to another, and then he became her personal butler. His title might be butler but in reality he is Hye-na’s driver, bodyguard, and business adviser to name a few. At first he’s only at it for the money but they became close to each other and their relationship became personal.
Jeong Il Woo is Lee Tae Yoon, a human rights lawyer. Because of his career path he’s the black sheep of his family. That might be the only thing Tae-yoon and Hye-na has in common, but throughout the course of the series, he’s starting to fall for Hye-na.
Moon Chae Won is Yeo Eui Ju, who Dong-chan treats like his sister. She’s always behind Dong-chan and is the one that worriest about him the most. What Dong Chan doesn’t know is that Eui Ju loves him more than a brother.
As you can see, My Fair Lady has a complex love square. Both guys want Hye Na and Eui Ju loves Dong Chan. There’s a point in the series where Eui-ju and Tae Yoon teamed up to separate Hye Na and Dong Chan but towards the end they were the ones helping the two. And yes, Eui Ju and Tae Yoon ended up with each other.
Also in My Fair Lady is Hwang Seok Hyeon. You might remember him as the kid in Speedy Scandal. He remains good at what he does… being cute.
I waited patiently for Eun Hye’s comeback to the little screen after Coffee Prince. My Fair Lady is one of the most anticipated Korean dramas this year but was it worth the wait? To be honest it started slow and there were episodes that I wished I skipped. Another thing I don’t like about My Fair Lady is Hye Na’s clothes. Her stylist must have a hidden grudge on her.
Overall My Fair Lady was an entertaining drama series. Its ending was predictable but it was still good. It goes to show that dramas can end without a wedding or a jump in the timeline. I really hate those one-year-later scenes. Those who criticized Yoon Eun Hye’s acting in this one must be blind. She was impressive. If you love Princess Hours and Coffee Prince, you’ll definitely love My Fair Lady as well.
