Finally the Boys Over Flowers fever has reached the Philippines. I have a confession to make though. I caught the BOF flu last January and it didn’t stop until the 25th episode. Now everyone’s talking about the Korean F4 but that’s not the reason why I watched the series. What made me stick around are Ga Eul, Jae Kyeong and Jan Di.

First there’s Ga Eul played by the lovely Kim So Eun. In my opinion, her onscreen romance with Kim Bum stole the spotlight from show’s primary pair. Her innocent look made me want to watch Boys Over Flowers week after week. My bet’s on the Gae Eul/Yi Jung story if ever there’s a spinoff of the series. Hopefully this is made soon.

Then there’s beautiful Jae Kyeong played by Lee Min Jung. She was supposed to be the female antagonist of the drama but how can you hate a face like hers? Jae Kyeong didn’t know that she was hurting Jan Di and even tried to be friends with her. If I were Jun Pyo, I would have chosen her over Jan Di. I’ll do it without any hesitations at all.

Then there’s troubled Jan-di played by Koo Hye Sun. Right from the start you’ll sympathize with her. She’s in the right place at the right time to save someone but then again she didn’t know what mess she got herself into. She became the object of F4’s hatred but at some point two of them fell in love with her. At first I can’t figure out what makes Jan Di special. She’s not that pretty. But then I got to know more about the actress behind the character. Hye-seon has got more talent than all the F4 put together. She can act, sing, write poems, and draw. She already has a novel published that featured her own illustrations. This makes her a cut above the rest.

Jun Pyo, Ji Hoo (his name reminds me of the Slumdog song), Yi Sung and Woo Bin might have the top billing in Boys Over Flowers but these three girls are the reasons why boys are watching the series.
