If you read the book, then you’ll know that the writer had some creative freedom with Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2. Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively and America Ferrera are back and this time around they’re already in college.

It is summer break but the girls will not spend it at home. Tibby is busy with summer school, Lena has an art class, Bridget is playing with skulls and relics in Turkey, and Carmen is in Vermont for a Shakespearean summer production. I’ve never read the series but a friend told me that the Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2 is made up of elements from books 2, 3, and 4 of the series.
Each girl has her own story to tell but Carmen’s was the most interesting one. I wished Lena had the spotlight on this one. There was a point in the movie that Lena was not seen for at least 20 minutes. But overall, the movie was interesting even if it’s a chick flick. Some say it’s the Sex and the City for the younger generation but it’s not. It’s hundred times better than SATC.
Carmen Lowell (America Ferrera): Sometimes I like to think that the pants got lost on purpose. That this was their final gift to us. Bringing us back together. Back to a place of forgiveness, and love, and in understanding that what we shared was all the magic we could ever need. And as we spent those last few moments of summer, looking out at the blending of sea and sky, I realized it was a color I knew very well. The softly faded, essential blue of a well worn pair of pants. The pants had brought us together again. The rest is in our hands.
Yup the pants is gone forever but the girls finally learned that their friendship does not depend on a single object alone. It’s not about the material things. It’s about the person in the relationship.
*Spoiler*
Tibby got a pregnancy scare and broke with Brian only to reconcile with him in the end. Lena found out Kostos got someone pregnant and was about to marry her. But in the end, Kostos broke up with the other girl and got back with Lena. Bridget found out that her father loves her mom so much that’s why he hid the letters from her grandma. Carmen became the lead of the play and found out that her Yale friend is a backstabber.
