babyGrowing up in an environment that contains violence and drug abuse, it’s not surprising to see why Baby (David Huynh) became what he is. The thin line between good and bad is often blurred in this tale of a young man’s gang life.

You’ll find yourself rooting for Baby while at the same time frustrated at some of his decisions. Movies that come into mind are Boyz in the Hood and Menace II Society, but Baby is done in an Asian flavor. Writer/Director Juwan Chung did a great job with this movie.

Tommy (Ron Yuan): We live for our brothers… without them we’re nothing.

That’s how gang members feel about themselves and Baby portrayed how it is like to be in one. The movie might be too realistic with its portrayal but that’s what gang life is about. The emotions are raw but the message is clear.

*Spoiler*
Baby’s gang was set up by Benny and in retaliation, Baby killed Benny. Just when Baby was running back home, he was shot by the Wah Ching gang and died.
