If you’re not a hardcore Saw fan, then skip Saw 5. It is just a movie about forensic expert Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) tying up the loss ends that happened in the past Saw movies. If you haven’t seen the previous ones, especially parts 3 and 4, then you’ll have a hard time distinguishing which are the flashbacks and which are happening in the present.
For me, the Saw franchise died in Saw 3 when Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) succumbed to his death due to cancer. After that, the series cruised along, feeding on the hardcore fans appetite for more gore and puzzles. To the first time viewers of Saw, it is not recommended to start with Saw 5. You’ll just get confused with all the flashbacks.
Jigsaw (Tobin Bell): If you’re good at anticipating the human mind, it leaves nothing to chance.
If you’re looking a good horror movie, then don’t watch Saw 5. It was made for Saw fans alone.
*Spoiler*
It turns out that Mark Hoffman is Jigsaw’s apprentice and helped him with his latter works. Hoffman then framed Agent Strahm for his crime and killed him. It is said that the agent’s body would never be found again.
Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor): Hello Agent Strahm, if you are hearing this the nyou have once again found what you are looking for. or so you think. Your dedication is to be commended. But i ask you, if you have learned anything on your journey of discovery. As the old adage goes: “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” The situation you find yourself in is, but of trust, so, i ask you Special Agent Strahm, have you learned to trust me? The only way to survive this room is by entering the glass box before you. Pain will be incurred, but you have a chance of survival. However, if you choose not to, you will never be heard from again. Your body will never be found. You will simply vanish. I ask you, Special Agent Strahm, have you learned enough to trust me? Would you heed my warning? For if you do not, this room will forever be your tomb, and my legacy will become yours. Make your choice.
