I was expecting a Full Monty but Three and Out is nothing like that, well except for Gemma Artenton who did just that. The movie failed to solicit any laughs from me. I thought that the thin Pirate of the Caribbean (Mackenzie Crook) would be funny but the humor is too dry for my taste.
Colm Meaney and Imelda Staunton gave superb performances but it couldn’t save the film. I guess the movie tackled a depressing topic that it drowns any attempts of humor.
Don’t get me wrong here. The movie was enjoyable. It was just that I was expecting it to be a comedy, not a drama. Maybe it was asking too much from a movie about a lonely guy wanting to kill himself.
With that said, I still do recommend Three and Out. Don’t be surprised with that. The story was compelling and original. Just don’t expect it to be funny. If you’re looking for a nice drama with a bit of romance then this movie is for you.

Turns out the Three and Out rule was a joke but Paul still helped Tommy to commit suicide. Paul finally finished his novel and in the end went diving with Frankie.
