The Strangling Strangers

My grandpa used to say that you must be more afraid of real people than ghosts. The Strangers wanted to play on that theory. It is about a group that decided to terrorize a couple for no apparent reason. It is not your typical horror story. There are no ghosts, ghouls or any other imaginary monster in this one. The threat is real and it could happen to any of us.

Writer/Director Bryan Bertino failed miserably to build on the given premise. He did achieve to give it an overall sense of creepiness. Yet, he had to resort to sound effects to scare the audience. Nothing in the film was scary at all.

At the middle of The Stranger I was wishing for the antagonists to finish off the couple, played by Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler. I wished the movie to end. That’s how boring it was. I know some people may say that The Strangers is an instant classic horror flick but I didn’t get it.

Kristen (Liv Tyler): Why are you doing this to us?
Dollface: Because you were home.

*Spoiler*
