A friend told me to watch Keith. (Thanks Jacy!) She said that it’s good. I was already expecting a chick flick. With that in mind, I watched Keith with an open mind. And at the end, not only did it captivate my mind but the movie touched my heart as well.
Keith reminded me of Sweet November and A Walk to Remember with a touch of Jeux’Enfants on the side. Yes, someone will die of cancer in the film. Although the story might have been told before, Keith had a refreshing take on it.
Another thing Keith has in common with A Walk to Remember is that the lead role is played by a singer/actor. Jesse McCartney is Keith and I would say that he did a better job than Mandy Moore did in A Walk to Remember. And let us not forget about Elisabeth Harnois who played Natalie. I think she is perfect for the role.
Although there are similarities, it would be unfair to say that Keith is unoriginal. The movie shows another perspective to the familiar story.
The dialogues were well written and to be honest, it is far better than A Walk to Remember. After watching it, Keith makes you think about life while Mandy Moore’s movie makes you go “aaaawwwww”.
Keith is about hope, love and risks. Basically, it shows how we must live our lives.
Natalie (Elisabeth Harnois): “You might have just screwed me… But I made love to you.”
*Spoiler*
Keith dies.
